5th National Seminar on “Alternative Technologies to Laboratory Animals”
The Fifth National Seminar on “Alternatives Technologies to Laboratory Animals” was held on 08 November 2025, organized by Royan Institute at the University of Science and Culture’s Conference Hall. The event brought together professors, researchers, and officials in the field of research ethics to discuss the latest scientific and ethical developments and challenges related to the use of laboratory animals.In the opening session, Dr. Imani Khoshkhoo, President of the University of Science and Culture, emphasized the scientific capacities of both Royan Institute and the University of Science and Culture and called for expanding collaborative projects between the two institutions.
Following this, Dr. Shahzadeh Fazeli, the scientific secretary of the seminar, delivered a philosophically oriented speech highlighting the essential role of ethics in scientific advancement. He noted that the aim of alternative technologies is not to restrict science, but to guide it toward greater responsibility and respect for life. He stressed that true scientific progress emerges when scientific rigor is aligned with human conscience.
In the final part of the opening ceremony, Dr. Ali Montazeri, President of the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), addressed the ethical responsibilities of researchers toward laboratory animals. He raised critical questions regarding the ethical boundaries of scientific progress and stated that the purpose of the seminar is to enhance the quality of research alongside ethical accountability.
The seminar concluded with appreciation for the speakers, organizers, and participants, recognizing the event as an important step toward promoting responsible research practices and advancing ethical standards in the life sciences.
