Public–Scientific Event on World Diabetes Day

Public–Scientific Event on World Diabetes Day On 18 November 2025, the Royan Institute hosted a major national event in recognition of World Diabetes Day, bringing together policymakers, medical experts, and community members in a dynamic gathering centered on the theme “Diabetes and the Workplace.” The auditorium of the Royan Diabetes Clinic transformed into a vibrant venue for scientific dialogue and public education, underscoring the institute’s commitment to advancing community health.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs of Royan Institute, the three-hour program, which began at 9:30 a.m., featured an integrated lineup of scientific presentations, public awareness activities, health services, and cultural engagements. Designed to translate specialized medical knowledge into accessible and practical guidance, the event aimed to empower individuals with clear strategies for diabetes prevention, early detection, and long-term management. The program was led by Dr. Azam Kuhkan as the Scientific Secretary and Ms. Rezvaneh Cheraghi as the Executive Secretary, ensuring both scientific rigor and effective organizational coordination throughout the event.
Attendees included the President of the Royan Institute, the Deputies for Treatment and Education, the Deputy Mayor of Tehran’s District 1 (Zone 9), esteemed university professors, leading researchers, community representatives, and residents of the Golzar neighborhood. A significant number of patients from the Royan Diabetes Clinic also took part, enriching the event with their experiences and active engagement.
One of the most widely welcomed components of the program was the provision of free on-site blood glucose testing, which drew considerable interest from participants. Additionally, the event celebrated the winners of a diabetes-themed drawing competition for children of Royan Institute staff, while prizes were also awarded to participants in the public engagement segment.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session led by physicians from the Royan Diabetes Clinic, who addressed attendees’ questions on healthy lifestyles, glucose control, physical activity, and effective diabetes management—an opportunity many described as both “insightful and highly applicable.”
Held in tribute to Frederick Banting, the discoverer of insulin, the program highlighted the enduring global significance of his contribution to modern medicine and its role in saving millions of lives worldwide.
The Royan Diabetes Clinic reaffirmed its long-term commitment to expanding educational and public outreach initiatives in the field of diabetes and metabolic diseases. According to the clinic’s leadership, these efforts aim to “promote awareness, strengthen public responsibility toward health, and foster a culture of informed and hopeful living.”
