Birth of 10 Babies Following Infertility Treatment for International Couples at Royan Institute
The Director of Public Relations and International Affairs at Royan Institute announced the birth of 10 babies following infertility treatment provided to international couples at the Institute’s tertiary infertility treatment center since the beginning of the Iranian year March 2026.
In an interview with Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Mehdi Lotfipanah stated that 10 babies have been born as a result of infertility treatments provided to foreign couples at the Institute’s Advanced Infertility Treatment Center since the start of the new Iranian calendar year. He noted that these births resulted from the treatment of families from Australia, United Kingdom, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan who traveled to Iran to benefit from specialized infertility treatment services and advanced assisted reproductive technologies (ART).
He added that this achievement reflects the scientific and clinical standing of Royan Institute at the international level and demonstrates the growing confidence of foreign patients in Iran’s expertise, experience, and specialized infrastructure in the field of infertility treatment.
Royan: One of the Region’s Leading Infertility Treatment Centers
Lotfipanah further stated that Royan Institute, as one of the region’s leading scientific and medical centers, has, over more than three decades of continuous activity, successfully delivered a broad spectrum of services in infertility treatment, reproductive medicine, stem cell research, and regenerative medicine through the utilization of state-of-the-art knowledge, advanced technologies, and the expertise of distinguished specialists.
He emphasized that Royan’s clinical division provides comprehensive services including in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), oocyte and embryo cryopreservation, preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), novel infertility therapies, and specialized counseling services, annually serving thousands of Iranian and international couples.
The Director of Public Relations and International Affairs of Royan Institute noted that the Institute’s significant therapeutic success rates, together with its adherence to scientific and ethical standards, are among the key factors contributing to its selection by international patients.
Participation of International Scientists in the Royan International Congress
Referring to the Institute’s research activities, Lotfipanah stated that Royan Institute also holds a distinguished position in regional and global scientific research. Every year in September, international scientists participate in the Royan International Congress. He further noted that The New York Times has described Royan Institute as “the crown jewel of Iran’s scientific achievements.”
He added that advanced research in biotechnology, tissue engineering, genetics, stem cells, and regenerative medicine has transformed Royan into one of the country’s most influential scientific hubs. These achievements, in addition to being published in the world’s most prestigious scientific journals, have also paved the way for the development of innovative therapeutic technologies.
Advancing Health Tourism Through Specialized Royan Services
The Director of Public Relations and International Affairs of Royan Institute further stated that the birth of 10 babies to non-Iranian families during the early months of the new year represents not only a remarkable therapeutic success, but also a symbol of Iran’s substantial capacity for the development of health tourism and the provision of highly specialized medical services at the international level.
He noted that evidence of this achievement can be seen in the numerous annual awards received by Royan Institute at International Patient Hospital (IPH) congresses and exhibitions, where the Institute has repeatedly been recognized as a leading center in delivering health tourism services to international patients.
In conclusion, Lotfipanah emphasized that Royan Institute, relying on the scientific expertise of Iranian specialists, the expansion of international collaborations, and the continuous enhancement of its clinical and research services, is steadily advancing toward becoming one of the leading reference centers for reproductive medicine and stem cell science in the Islamic world and the broader region.
