Royan Institute’s First Excellence Award Presented to CellTech Pharmed

Royan Institute’s First Excellence Award Presented to CellTech Pharmed A specialized meeting on the commercialization strategies of Royan Institute for the new year was held with the participation of the institute’s senior executives and representatives of CellTech Pharmed. The meeting was regarded as one of the most significant steps toward strengthening synergy among research, production, and market integration in the field of advanced cellular products.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Office
of Royan Institute, in line with the institute’s strategic vision of transforming scientific achievements into practical and impactful applications, Royan Institute recognizes companies and projects that have successfully translated innovative technologies into marketable products and healthcare services. This initiative is intended to acknowledge and encourage pioneering contributors in the commercialization of emerging biomedical technologies.

Accordingly, the “Royan Excellence Award” was presented to CellTech Pharmed, a company that has successfully paved the way for the formal clinical and commercial application of several advanced cellular products through obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals. These products include “WhartoCell” (umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal cells), “RenuDermcell” (cultured autologous human fibroblast cells), and “ReColorCell” (living autologous keratinocyte and melanocyte cells), all of which are currently advancing toward broader therapeutic implementation and clinical service delivery.

Another major topic discussed during the meeting was the necessity of establishing a dedicated “Think Tank for the Promotion of Cellular Technologies,” as well as organizing specialized training courses and scientific symposia. Participants emphasized that increasing awareness and acceptance of cell therapy among physicians and healthcare professionals, alongside fostering broader trust in emerging medical technologies, remains one of the key challenges facing the field today. Nevertheless, given the accelerating pace of scientific advancement and future-oriented research developments, the prospects for wider implementation and expansion of these technologies are expected to grow substantially in the coming years.

The Royan Excellence Award is granted to institutions and individuals capable of advancing the technical knowledge and scientific achievements developed at Royan Institute beyond the research stage and transforming them into practical products, services, and technologies with tangible societal impact; an endeavor that plays a pivotal role in the advancement of the knowledge-based economy and the future of biotechnology in the country.
