27th Royan International Congress to Convene with the Participation of Leading Iranian Scientists and International Speakers The scientific programmes of the 27th Royan International Congress on Reproductive Medicine, the 22nd Royan International Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technology, and the 21st Royan International Nursing and Midwifery Seminar will commence on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at the University of Science and Culture, bringing together distinguished Iranian researchers, specialists, and leading scientific figures, as well as international speakers from various countries.
According to the Public Relations Department of Royan Institute, the opening ceremony of this major scientific event will be held on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, at the International Conference Hall of the University of Science and Culture.
At a press conference held ahead of the congress, Dr. Abdolhossein Shahverdi, President of Royan Institute, outlined the objectives, strategic approaches, and major scientific themes of the 27th Royan International Congress. He underscored the prominent position of Royan Institute and Iran in the fields of reproductive medicine and stem cell science. He also provided details regarding the process of selecting the highest-ranking abstracts submitted to the congress, as well as plans to honour distinguished scientists and pioneers in these fields.
Referring to the longstanding history of the Royan International Congresses, Dr. Shahverdi described the event as a valuable platform for the exchange of scientific expertise, presentation of the latest research findings, and development of professional and academic links among researchers, specialists, and scientific institutions in Iran and abroad. He further emphasised that the sustained organisation of these congresses over the years has played a significant role in showcasing Iran’s scientific capabilities and strengthening the country’s position in reproductive medicine, infertility treatment, cell biology, and stem cell-related technologies.
Highlighting the participation of scientists and specialists from various countries in this year’s congress, the President of Royan Institute stressed the importance of international scientific engagement and the potential of collaborative research initiatives. He noted that such interactions provide an opportunity to become acquainted with the latest global scientific findings and to examine future directions in research and clinical practice across related fields.
447 Abstracts Accepted for Presentation Across Three Royan Scientific Events
During the press conference, Dr. Rouhollah Fathi, Deputy for Education at Royan Institute and Executive Secretary of the Congress, presented an overview of the scientific and complementary programmes of the event.
Referring to the organisation of six scientific workshops and a range of complementary programmes, Dr. Fathi stated that a total of 589 abstracts had been submitted across the 27th International Congress on Reproductive Medicine, the 22nd International Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technology, and the 21st Royan Nursing and Midwifery Seminar. Of these, 447 abstracts have been accepted for oral or poster presentation.
According to Dr. Fathi, the 27th International Congress on Reproductive Medicine will feature 197 poster presentations and seven oral presentations.
At the 22nd International Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technology, 186 abstracts have been accepted for poster presentation and nine for oral presentation.
Meanwhile, at the 21st Royan Nursing and Midwifery Seminar, 45 abstracts will be presented as posters and three as oral presentations.
The Executive Secretary of the Royan International Congress further announced that the scientific event is accredited for continuing professional education (CPE) credits for relevant disciplines.
Six Distinguished Scientists and Pioneers to Be Honoured
Dr. Fathi also outlined the programme for the opening ceremony, noting that six distinguished scientists, pioneers, and influential figures in reproductive medicine, stem cell science, biology, and regenerative medicine will be honoured this year in recognition of their valuable contributions to the national healthcare system and scientific development over the past years.
The honourees are:
  • Dr. Kazem Parivar, a pioneering and influential figure in cell and developmental biology in Iran;
  • Dr. Mojtaba Reza-Zadeh Velojerdi, a distinguished pioneer in embryology within the field of anatomical sciences;
  • Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh, a leading pioneer and influential figure in polymer engineering, biomaterials, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine;
  • Dr. Saghar Salehpour, Professor and a prominent specialist in infertility and in vitro fertilisation (IVF);
  • Dr. Seyed Mohammad Kazemini, specialist and professor of urological and genitourinary surgery;
  • Dr. Marzieh Ebrahimi, specialist in cell and molecular biology.
31 Speakers to Participate in the Reproductive Medicine Congress
During the press conference, Dr. Reza Moghaddasali and Dr. Azam Dalman, Scientific Secretaries of the Reproductive Medicine and Stem Cell Congresses, respectively, elaborated on the scientific themes and key areas of discussion addressed by the two congresses.
According to the Congress Secretariat, 31 speakers will participate in the 27th International Congress on Reproductive Medicine. Among them, eight international speakers from the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, Russia, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland will deliver their presentations online.
At the 22nd International Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technology, 34 speakers will present scientific lectures and discussions, including 14 international speakers from Türkiye, Russia, Malaysia, Canada, the United States, and the Netherlands.
The 21st Royan Nursing and Midwifery Seminar will also feature 19 speakers from Iran.
Scientific Themes of the Reproductive Medicine Congress
Among the principal scientific themes of the 27th International Congress on Reproductive Medicine are emerging technologies in assisted reproductive technology (ART); animal biotechnology; male infertility from basic and clinical perspectives; reproductive genetics; ovulatory disorders; cell and tissue engineering in reproductive biology; maternal and perinatal outcomes following assisted reproductive technologies; and endometrial disorders.
Scientific Themes of the Stem Cell Congress
The 22nd International Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technology will address a broad range of topics, including stem cells, cancer and developmental biology, academic skills, engagement with scientific journal editors, bioengineering and disease modelling, advanced cell- and gene-based cancer therapies, regenerative medicine, and interaction with entrepreneurs.
At the 21st Royan Nursing and Midwifery Seminar, the scientific themes were presented by Ms. Naeimeh Sadat Mirqavamoddin, Scientific Secretary of the seminar. Key topics will include infectious diseases and infertility; premature ovarian insufficiency and preventive care; the environment, lifestyle and the health of future generations in reproductive health; and emerging approaches to infertility and patient-centred care.
Scientific Competitions to Be Held Alongside the Royan Congresses
As in previous years, a series of scientific competitions will be held concurrently with the congresses. These include competitions for Best Poster Reader, Best Lecture Listener, Best Short Oral Presentation, and Best Poster.
The competitions will be conducted in person, with the winners to be recognised during the closing day of the congress.
The 27th Royan International Congress on Reproductive Medicine, the 22nd Royan International Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technology, and the 21st Royan Nursing and Midwifery Seminar will be held both
in person and virtually, beginning on 2 September 2026.
The events aim to facilitate the exchange of the latest scientific advances, expand national and international scientific collaboration, and provide a platform for researchers to present their most recent findings and developments in reproductive medicine, stem cell science, nursing, midwifery, and related biomedical disciplines.
